Official Timing Information

Your official time will be recorded by a highly accurate timing chip (B-Tag) which is attached to your runner bib number. Your bib must be worn properly from the start to finish in order to receive an official finish time. Do not remove, bend, or break the the timing chip, you must attach your bib to the front of your apparel before the start of the race. Orientation of the bib also effects the chips ability to be scanned at the start and finish of the run. To ensure you get results, it is best to place the bib flat, not sideways. The timing device must be worn only by the participant to whom it was assigned.

To ensure the most accurate results possible,

make sure that:

  • Race bib is clearly visible on the front of your torso

  • Race bib is unaltered and unmodified (Do not fold or wrinkle)

  • Race bib is pinned in all four corners

  • Race bib is not covered (jackets, runner belts, water bottles, etc.)

How Does It Work?

Your B-Tag is registered with your information (name, age, gender, etc.) As you move across a special mat at the starting line, the B-Tag registers that you’ve started the race. Your time will be registered again at the halfway point on the course, and then again at the finish. Be sure you cross over each of these special mats. At the starting line, the system selects your last read after the gun goes off, and at the finish, the system takes the first read and ignores any subsequent reads.

Unable to Finish the Race?

If you drop out of the race, please make your way to one of our 7 water stations and let a course official know. You will then be transported to the Bill Snyder Family Stadium. Do NOT cross the finish line.

Chip Time Vs. Gun Time

All results and awards, with the exception of the Overall Winners, will be based on your net, or “chip” time which is electronically recorded by your B-Tag. This means if you are going for an overall placing, you need to find your way to the front of the line at the start. Likewise, if you are leading the race, you can be sure you are actually winning; no one can start further back in the pack and beat you on time, overall winners are decided solely by who get to the line first.

Overall Winners will be determined by “gun time,” which is based on the time the gun goes off rather than when the runner crosses the start line. Results by Red Dirt Race Management.
